George Clooney plays Matt King, a wealthy Hawaiian career lawyer who manages his family’s vast estates on the islands. His wife Elizabeth survives a speedboat accident but is left in a coma. His family of misfit children react badly and reveal that their mother has been having an affair. Clooney, with many other complications in his life, commences on an angry revenge trip with totally unexpected consequences. Based on the book by Kaui Hart Hemmings and filmed showing the real Hawaiian islands this film is completed with a sumptuous local soundtrack. Winner of the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and two Golden Globes.
