Winner of the Caméra d'Or award at Cannes 2012 and the Grand Jury Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. It follows the story of six year old Hushpuppy and her father Wink, in their search in the southern Delta for her long-lost mother. Set about the time of hurricane Katrina, it dreams of a future world that collapses from the ravages of climate change. Shunning official help, Wink, though seriously ill, rallies neighbours as comrades in the fight to survive. Hushpuppy cares for him as his health declines, her resolve to find her mother ever more intensified.
